Spring break in Kansas

Last week was spring break! It's been awhile since our district has given us a whole week off so I was really looking forward to it! I packed up the van and headed to Wichita with the kids right after school on Friday. I forgot Turk's Dock-a-Tot (I highly recommend it) so I had to go back home which added 45 minutes to my trip :(  The kids were pretty good on the way down, but even better on the way home. We got in late Friday and went to bed!

My sister, Sara, came in for a few days to hang out which was nice because my parents had to work. We went shopping and drove up to Kansas City to see my grandparents, Aunt and cousin.  My Grandparents hid eggs around their place and Nola got to go on an egg hunt (the first of 5- anyone want some Easter candy?).  She was so egg-cited!

We spent some time with my Grandparents then met my Aunt and cousin for dinner.  It was their first time meeting Turk and somehow I forgot to take pictures!!  I guess we were having too much fun getting caught up.  Our KC trip ended with a trip to Build-A-Bear... Thanks F.A.!!  Nola got the Wonder Woman bear.  When we asked what her name was she said, Merlotte.  Then we asked her to spell it and she said, "BDNNT".  I think she got my spelling genes.

The next day my Grandparents from the other side of my family came to Wichita to meet Turk.  We had a wonderful time catching up and I even got pictures!

Sara left the next day and my mom and I took Nola to Exploration Place.  It's sort of a science museum geared towards kids.  It's also where I got married!  It's always fun to go back there.  Nola likes it too!

Here are a few more pictures from our trip!

We did some sidewalk painting!

My dad is the original photo-bomber

We dyed Easter eggs after Boca took Nola to a trampoline park.

Nola at 2 months and Turk at 3 months.  I can't believe how much they look alike!
We ended our trip with some shopping, another Easter egg hunt, and a VERY easy drive back to Nebraska.  I'm so thankful that my kids travel well!

3 & 53

Turk is 3 months old!  If I had to sum up the last four weeks it would be, "the month Nola wouldn't leave Turk alone." She's still in love, which is still so cute.

Turk continues to grow. He is a very mellow baby.  He is very happy in the swing, the bouncer, or in my arms.

He's eating well and is still a pretty okish sleeper. He actually slept from 12 to 6 the other night- nothing wakes you up faster than a baby who sleeps longer than usual!!  I just put all of his newborn/0-3 month clothes away and got out the 3-6 month stuff :(

I'm kinda obsessed with is bald spot. He's just SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!

And my 53 month old child is pretty cute too.

She's kind of a ham.  Not sure where she gets it.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was pretty low-key this year.  I had a four day weekend and had big plans to make Valentine's with Nola on Friday.  I picked out a few cute ones on Pinterest involving hand and/or footprints.  I had dreams of Turk sleeping in the swing while Nola and I crafted and laughed at the kitchen table.  After an hour battle to get Nola to leave Turk alone so he would sleep I got out some craft supplies and cut out some hearts.  My plan was to get Nola to put her handprints in the hearts and have her write her name.  Her plan was to rip the hearts in half and go back to her room.  That was the end of our crafting :(

Nola has been obsessed with these little princesses that are conveniently located at kids height in the checkout aisles of Walmart.  She has a few of them so I picked one up for her for Valentine's Day along with some princess socks and heart shaped brownies.  She was excited about all of them.

I also wrapped up some Swiss Cake Rolls for Robert.  He was also excited.

Later that day I finally convinced Nola to craft with me.  She still wouldn't participate in my Pinterest dreams, but she did paint her hand.  We made "Valentine's" for family (I still haven't sent them) and a few pictures.  She even tried to give one to the cable guy that came to look at our TV the next day.

Look at that face!  It's crazy to think about how many people love her, but be careful.... she'll literally rip your heart up.
