One Year

Our little Turkey is 1!!  Crazy!

He is full on walking now.  He started side-stepping on 11/27, he wouldn't walk forward but would kind of shuffle a little then fall down.  Over Christmas break he really kicked it into gear!  He wasn't really crawling anymore by the time we came back from Wichita.

He said his first words (bye bye) about a week after his first birthday and a day later said "go".  The word "go" is his current favorite.  At first I wondered why he started saying it, did I really say it that much?  But now I can see why, I say "go" all the time!  I had no idea.  I'm starting to think that "go" is going to fit his personality.  When he's able to get behind something with wheels he goes flying!  Like, straight up sprinting.  He got ahold of my Grandma's walker when we were in KC and his little legs were moving so fast!  Go, go, go!!

His sleeping has gotten better.  He had a bit of a cold there for a little while so he spent a few nights in our bed, but other than that he's pretty much been in the crib.  He sleeps through the night, most nights waking up a little bit but he's able to put himself back to sleep.  He takes a short nap in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon.

He eats e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.  He's a bottomless pit too.  He'll eat until you stop feeding him.  I love the way he eats.  He'll eat from his hands, fingers, wrists, arms...it's pretty cute.  I've been buying those baby food pouches and he can drain one of those in no time.  He's drinking milk and nursing a bit in the morning and night.

He's so sweet and smiley.  Nola's been taking him in his room lately so they can play together.  We can watch on the camera and it's pretty funny to watch them together when they don't know we can see.  Nola loves him so much, she gives him lots of hugs, and he just smiles and laughs at her.

Happy Birthday sweet baby!  We love you very much!

First Haircut!

Turk's first haircut was a long time coming!  We did it just before his first birthday party.  He wasn't a big fan, but looks so so cute with his new hair!

He's already ready for another one :)

Turk's family birthday party

I feel a little bad, for Nola's first birthday we did a whole thing.  Family, friends, decorations, outfits.  That wasn't the case with Turk's first, but we did get to spend it with family and that's what's really important, right?

My parents, brother, and his fiancĂ© came up to Lincoln to celebrate!   We rented a room at Valentino's (the same one we used for Robert's 30th birthday party) and had a nice dinner with them and Robert's family and opened gifts.  Nola opened all of Turks gifts, she's very "helpful" :).  We bought some cupcakes, Turk played with his a little but didn't really eat a lot of it.

Look how excited the birthday girl is!  Oh wait...

That night my parents watched the kids so Robert and I could go out with Kyle and Hannah.  I had a good time showing them Sandy's, an establishment I frequented during my college days.  Funny how it looked the same buy felt so different.  We laughed a lot, it was fun!

I can't believe my sweet little guys is one!  Happy Birthday Turk!

Months 10 & 11

With a trip to Wichita, Nola's birthday celebrations, a hospital stay, and Halloween, I completely dropped the ball on a write up for month 10!!  Luckily, I did remember to take pictures!

It's so hard to take his picture for these things.  I have to push him down because he tries to crawl off the couch.  He thinks he's hilarious.

As a 10 month old, Turk really started moving.  He is able to walk around holding furniture and is super close to walking on his own.

In September he started saying "mama" but it wasn't necessarily directed at me, but in the last month or so he is defiantly saying it to get my attention.  Often when he's crawling towards me or looking at me.  No "dada" yet....

In the last month he has gotten very good at moving the gate.  Robert made a gate when Nola started crawling to block off the area between the couch and the kitchen.  It worked well for her, she rarely tried to move it.  Turk busts out of it every chance he gets.  When he escapes I'll go after him and he tries to crawl as fast as he can, smiling the whole time.  It's pretty cute!

He's had a couple of bad weeks, sleeping wise.  I'm not sure if it's teeth or he's just lonely? He had three teeth pop through the top about a month ago and I just noticed a fourth the other day!  He's eating everything and loves it all.  He's able to feed himself finger food, I even caught him with a fry that he stole off of Nola's plate!

Nola and Turk are still buddies.  She's still picking him up more than I'd like :)  He bolts for her room any chance he gets.  The is the scene every morning.  Turk waiting for Nola to come out of her room.

I can't believe this sweet baby is going to be a year old in a month!  He's just the best.

9 months

Turk is 9 months (and 22 days.......) old!

So I'm a little behind with the update this month, but I did take the 9 month pictures on time!  And let me tell you, it was a challenge.  That is one squirmy baby!

This was a big month!  At his check up he was 30 inches tall and 22 lbs 5 oz.   His second tooth showed up on August 12th and he started crawling on August 16th.  And when I say crawl, I mean crawl!  That kid looks like a spider.  Expect with less legs, and less terrifying, and soooooo much cuter.

Nola and Turk still adore each other.  Nola is asking to play with him and hold him more and more each day.  She still needs a lot of reminders to be careful.  So far she really hasn't showed any signs of jealousy (knock on wood).

Robert got my Grandpa's wagon restore and we had pictures taken with it and my Grandparents.  This is a picture when Rob brought the wagon home.  I'm excited to see the professional ones!

Turk started pulling himself up on labor day but has only done it a few times.  He's still eating everything we give him, but hasn't been a fan of the food with chunks in it or finger food.

He is a BIG fan of his mother.  We are getting to the stage where I'm just about the only person he is content with.  I don't remember Nola being as bad, but I'm still nursing Turk a few times a day so that might have something to do with it.  I've heard him say "Mama" a few times when he is reaching out for me but can't tell if it's on purpose or just well timed babbling.

He's taking a shorter nap in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon.  He's still waking up at least once at night but sometimes falls back asleep before I get him.

He's smiley and curious.  He's cuddling and clingy.  He's active and so so cute.

It's pretty much impossible to get anything done with Turk around, but I don't mind too much.

And he's holding his own bottle!  Hallelujah!
