Christmas in Wichita

Oops- I thought I posted this!  Well..... here ya go.... two months later....

Two days after Christmas we packed up the car and drove down to Kansas to celebrate with family. We are so lucky that the kids are good in the car.  They're use to driving, both drive at least an hour a day for daycare (Turk drives 2!) so I think that's why they don't mind it.  We got down there around lunch time and then the girls hit the nail salon.  The next day we packed up a couple of cars and drove to Kansas City to see family.

We got to see my Grandparents, Aunt and cousins.  Plus my cousin's new baby boy :)  Turk was a little jealous when I was holding him.  At one point he crawled up my lap and kept scooting over until I had no more room for Miles.  Kids are funny!

My Grandparents got the kids a few gifts including some money for Nola to spend at Target- she once told my Grandpa that Target was her favorite store! We didn't stay long but it was the first time we were all together in a while.

It was a fun but very long day!

And this was Turk the next morning.  So cute!

We had to wait to celebrate Christmas until John got into town, so Sara and I threw a LuLaRoe party!  We got to meet a few people and share our love of clothes.  Win win!

We all spent a lot of time together, which was great.  We always have a good time laughing, playing games and....

My brother is the best bartender :)

After John got to town we were able to celebrate Christmas!  Nola was ecstatic, she even wrapped up a couple of her toys to give to people.  She's so thoughtful.

Jessica and John took Nola to see Moana in-between their 5ks.

They ran one on midnight on New Year's Eve.  Robert and I kept them company at a bar near by unill they had to leave, then Kyle and Hannah joined us.  Not a crazy way to ring in 2017, but it was fun!!

We continued our terrible selfie taking skills the next day at another 5k.  Appropriately called The Hangover 5k.  We ran one together on our family Reycation over the summer so we thought we'd do it again.

It was pretty much the same crew, I was technically John for the race.

We took a few pictures on the way to document my run.  I think I'm funny.  Really I just need an excuse to lay down every once and awhile.

I got stopped when I crossed the finish line because they could tell I wasn't John!  The others bailed and left me all alone to possibly go to 5k jail!  But it turned out ok, they just wanted to get my real name so the times could be accurate.  In the end it was better for John, he didn't need a 45 minute 5k on his record....

It was such a fun time, like always!  The kids love it and I love spending time with my family!  We're all just pretty tired after a few fun filled days!!

Christmas 2016

Our Christmas card and a family picture in front of a fancy tree :)

Nola and Turk got to meet Santa in Lincoln at the beginning of December.  We weren't planning on it, but my parents were in town for Turk's birthday so we went to an outdoor mall and there he was!  They had a little house and the inside was all decorated.  Mrs. Clause was there too and a couple of elves.  And the best part?!?!?  Nola wasn't scared!  It took her a few minutes to warm up, but then she was totally fine with it.  Turk did great too!  Santa on the other hand......

He just looks a little surprised?  I'm not sure why, his only job that day was to get his picture taken.

We celebrated with Robert's family on Christmas Eve.  They came up to our house and we had dinner and opened presents.  For some reason I didn't take any pictures?!?!

Nola spent most of the night asking when dinner was, if we were done eating dinner, and when she could open her present.  She was very interested in the presents.  She was excited!  She got a kid's digital camera which was really fun.  She's enjoyed taking pictures, but we've had to have a conversation about when it is and isn't appropriate to take pictures of Mom- she almost got one of me in the shower!

Christmas morning she slept until 9, what 5 year old does that?!?  We struggled with what to get her because she really wanted a Hatchimal but they were so hard to get!  I couldn't believe it when Robert came home with one 2 days before Christmas!  He tracked one down on a Facebook and didn't even have to pay much more than retail!  Nola was so excited when she opened it.  We watched it hatch that day and she hasn't touched it since.  I kind of figured that would be the case, but I'm still glad Santa got it for her!

Nola helped Turk open his presents.  He actually had quite a few because Nola and I wrapped up some of her old toys to give him.  We did stockings and spent the rest of the day hanging out.  It was nice to be home and not have to drive on Christmas day.  It gave us time to clean up before bringing the next batch of presents home

One Year

Our little Turkey is 1!!  Crazy!

He is full on walking now.  He started side-stepping on 11/27, he wouldn't walk forward but would kind of shuffle a little then fall down.  Over Christmas break he really kicked it into gear!  He wasn't really crawling anymore by the time we came back from Wichita.

He said his first words (bye bye) about a week after his first birthday and a day later said "go".  The word "go" is his current favorite.  At first I wondered why he started saying it, did I really say it that much?  But now I can see why, I say "go" all the time!  I had no idea.  I'm starting to think that "go" is going to fit his personality.  When he's able to get behind something with wheels he goes flying!  Like, straight up sprinting.  He got ahold of my Grandma's walker when we were in KC and his little legs were moving so fast!  Go, go, go!!

His sleeping has gotten better.  He had a bit of a cold there for a little while so he spent a few nights in our bed, but other than that he's pretty much been in the crib.  He sleeps through the night, most nights waking up a little bit but he's able to put himself back to sleep.  He takes a short nap in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon.

He eats e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.  He's a bottomless pit too.  He'll eat until you stop feeding him.  I love the way he eats.  He'll eat from his hands, fingers, wrists, arms...it's pretty cute.  I've been buying those baby food pouches and he can drain one of those in no time.  He's drinking milk and nursing a bit in the morning and night.

He's so sweet and smiley.  Nola's been taking him in his room lately so they can play together.  We can watch on the camera and it's pretty funny to watch them together when they don't know we can see.  Nola loves him so much, she gives him lots of hugs, and he just smiles and laughs at her.

Happy Birthday sweet baby!  We love you very much!

First Haircut!

Turk's first haircut was a long time coming!  We did it just before his first birthday party.  He wasn't a big fan, but looks so so cute with his new hair!

He's already ready for another one :)

Turk's family birthday party

I feel a little bad, for Nola's first birthday we did a whole thing.  Family, friends, decorations, outfits.  That wasn't the case with Turk's first, but we did get to spend it with family and that's what's really important, right?

My parents, brother, and his fiancĂ© came up to Lincoln to celebrate!   We rented a room at Valentino's (the same one we used for Robert's 30th birthday party) and had a nice dinner with them and Robert's family and opened gifts.  Nola opened all of Turks gifts, she's very "helpful" :).  We bought some cupcakes, Turk played with his a little but didn't really eat a lot of it.

Look how excited the birthday girl is!  Oh wait...

That night my parents watched the kids so Robert and I could go out with Kyle and Hannah.  I had a good time showing them Sandy's, an establishment I frequented during my college days.  Funny how it looked the same buy felt so different.  We laughed a lot, it was fun!

I can't believe my sweet little guys is one!  Happy Birthday Turk!
